Glaucoma: an eye disease, a set of conditions, that damage the optic nerve due to insufficient flow of the intraocular fluid. This damage is often caused by abnormally high pressure in the eye, but it sometimes happens for other reasons.

Symptoms: Vision loss that typically begins within the peripheral parts of the vision field. As the disease progresses, the field of view continues to narrow, leading to "tunnel vision," where only central vision remains. Eventually, glaucoma can cause complete blindness.

Traditional correction: Eye drops, oral medication, surgery; all with the goal of reducing the eye pressure.

Natural correction: Relaxation and the techniques inside this month’s lesson.

May your eyesight be boundless.

TOUCH OF ANATOMY

Aqueous humor is an ultrafiltrate of blood plasma with a carefully regulated composition of oxygen, nutrients and other elements that are necessary for the functions of the lens and the cornea.

Aqueous humor is released by the ciliary body, it flows through the posterior chamber between the lens and the iris, and enters the anterior chamber - the space between the iris and the cornea - through the pupil.

Aqueous humor flows out of the eye at the perimeter of the anterior chamber through the space located at the meeting point of the cornea with the iris. It is then collected by the trabecular meshwork and eventually pushed back into the blood system.

The continuous flow of aqueous humor brings nutrients to the crystalline lens and the cornea, it removes metabolites and waste, it prevents the accumulation of debris in the anterior chamber, and it mediates inflammatory responses to protect the eye from invasion by foreign substances and organisms.

MANTRA FOR SEEING FAR OBJECTS

“ My eye muscles are relaxed. My eyeballs are soft. The liquid inside my eyes flows in and and out with ease. My eye pressure is normal and my optic nerve is healthy. I see clearly all around me.”

Directions for using the mantra as part of your routine:

Repeat at least 5 times before beginning your practice. Best when said aloud, with your eyes closed, visualizing seeing far objects and feeling the joy of seeing them. Whatever “far objects” means for you is your choice. Remember that you are the master of your mind. You control the mind, which controls your brain, which then controls your body (per neuroscience and neuropsychology). Choose the way you want to see, then through your thoughts (by making clear, positive, non-negotiable statements about your desired future, but in the present tense) command your brain to help you while you take action in the form of your daily practice.
